FilmSlam Student Film Festival
Connecting the world of film to your world in the classroom.

March 10 - 14, 2008

We invite you and your students to attend FilmSlam, a minifestival of films for high school students shown during the Cleveland International Film Festival. FilmSlam films have been specifically selected by adults and teenagers for their appeal to high school audiences. These films connect with your classroom and can introduce students to the broader horizons of cinematic expression.

Tickets are just $5, and when you register your class to attend a screening we'll provide you with a free study guide, suggestions for classroom discussion, and links to curriculum strands. Plus, your ticket and those for your class chaperones are free.

Call Beth Radisek at 216.623.3456, ext. 13 or contact via email at beth@clevelandfilm.org.

FilmForums

The Cleveland Film Society is committed to using film as an impetus for educating people on issues faced around our world today. FilmForums are moderated panel discussions that offer Film Festival audience members the opportunity to learn more about the issues brought up in the films, to ask questions, and to share their own ideas. FilmForums take place immediately after the conclusion of selected film screenings. Panels include filmmakers, educators, and people who have experienced issues addressed in the films. Please check back with us in early February 2008 for more information.

Cultural Journeys

A multicultural program of the Cleveland International Film Festival, Cultural Journeys welcomes audiences from a broad spectrum of ethnic and national backgrounds. Cultural Journeys opens windows onto other diverse worlds. It's designed to bring people together to learn about each other's custom, lifestyles, and traditions through the shared language of film. The 32nd Cleveland International Film Festival’s Cultural Journeys will focus on China. Please check back with us in early February 2008 for more information.
